New advances in deep learning technologies are creating waves of change in a number of fields, such as computer vision, speech recognition, translation, and the game of Go. With a relatively simple mathematical model, deep neural networks outperform other significantly more complex approaches in these fields.  It is creating a significant impact to a number of industries.  Some predict that we are only seeing the beginning of it. In this talk, I will provide an industry perspective on the general impact of deep neural networks, and use the App I am working on, News Republic, as an example of an mobile application using the deep learning technology.
