Data Science for Water Sustainability

Despite the recent rains across the state, California continues to experience drought conditions. As California unveils efforts to address the drought, accurate and accessible data will be essential to meaningful action. Join us for two engaging talks on water analytics and data availability in California.

Noah Olsman, Caltech Graduate Student, Control and Dynamical Systems focused on Systems Biology, will discuss the Waterlog project, which is attempting to address the lack of access to water data by creating an interface for anyone to access Los Angeles County water data in a quick, scalable, and informative manner.
Patrick Atwater, Project Manager for the initial phase of the Statewide Data Collaborative, will discuss the California Data Collaborative, which is the first ever, public agency led, effort to centralize comprehensive customer level water usage data and has already ingested over 1.8 billion records. All members of the community are welcome to attend.
