CPET Discussion Group: "Confidence in Teaching" with Co-Directors: Matthew Langley and Emile Oshima
Do you feel insecure or hesitant when standing in front of a class? Do your students leave your classroom feeling capable and equipped for real-world problem solving? Confidence-building is an important element of a successful learning environment, both for instructors and students alike. However, the process can be "elusive to those of us in higher education, since academic culture can often subtract from our confidence," as you will read in the recommended article by Stachowiak. In this event, we will discuss strategies to improve your own confidence in teaching and techniques for how to help instill confidence in others. Please check out the following short article and YouTube video to prepare for the discussion:
Bonni Stachowiak, "How to demonstrate confidence in your teaching"
Brittany Packnett, "How to build your confidence – and spark it in others"
